Unraveling Oliver
I didn't find "Unraveling Oliver" a thriller but more of a character study but it was enjoyable all the same. A successful children's author does the unthinkable and puts his wife into an irreversible coma and the novel tries to uncover why he may have snapped through the recollection of various people in Oliver's life. It was interesting to see Oliver's psyche peeled like an onion but I was never able to feel compassion for him at all simply because he obviously knew right from wrong and chose to do the wrong things over and over again mainly with how he viewed and treated the people in his life. The main point I understood from the novel was how nature and nurture really shape a person but at the end of the day you are responsible for your own choices and actions. It really is a tragic and sad story all around and really is thought provoking. I received a copy of the book from the publishers through Netgalley for free in exchange for an honest review.
