The Ruin of Delicate Things by Beverley Lee

I assumed this would be a regular run of the mill ghost story in a haunted house but it turned out to be oh, so much more. I like well written horror novels that rely more on character development and atmosphere rather than just blood and gore. I also like folktales with elves, fairies, and the unseen.

The way that Beverley Lee weaves the words she writes to create an eerie other worldly scene is exquisite. I just love the way she tells her story. It is more of a brooding slow build of a novel. I really wish there could be a sequel to this book because I just loved the idea that this book was based on and would love to learn a bit more about the unseen world in it.
